‘What you come up with, might save lives someday.'
- Willem J. Kolff, M.D. PhD. (1911-2009) -

The 2013 Kolff Event, organized by the Willem Kolff Foundation, the W.J. Kolff Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and the Dutch Kidney Foundatio, will be held at the University Medical Center of Groningen, The Netherlands, on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 October 2013. In this city the 'father of artificial organs' W.J. Kolff (1911-2009) started his career in 1938. And here, the world of artificial organs, biomedical engineering and regenerative medicine will return. Seventyfive years after Kolff's idea to build the first artificial kidney ignited, the broad field of organ technology and teams from universities all over the world will gather, compete and innovate. Their single goal will be to improve the future perspectives of patients. Internationally renowned speakers will present their latest, state-of-the-art results in the field of kidney-, heart- and lungresearch in order to teach and inspire young researchers of today and tomorrow. And we invite you to be part of it.
